Privacy Policy

ArcMates Privacy Policy.

This policy explains how ArcMates collects, uses, shares, and protects information for the waitlist, website, and mobile app.

Effective August 17, 2026Adults 18+ onlyApproximate member location

Quick Summary

ArcMates uses your information to run the waitlist, create accounts, confirm 18+ eligibility, recommend anime Events and member-hosted Hangouts, help members form Crews, and run the opt-in Arc Finder plus Shared Arcs connections with optional shared context. We also use it to enable messaging, improve safety, and moderate harmful behavior, including automated safety checks powered by OpenAI. OpenAI moderation does not write member messages, choose connections, or power Arc Sync. We do not sell your personal information or show a member's device location to other users. An in-person Hangout does show the address its host intentionally enters to everyone allowed by the Hangout's visibility setting.

Information We Collect

  • Waitlist and contact data, including email address, optional launch area vote, optional platform preference, referral code, source, host interest, and ambassador interest.
  • Ambassador application data, including name, email, city or area, social or community handle, community role, local reach estimate, hosting interest, conventions attended, launch ideas, and application notes.
  • Account and eligibility data, including login details, birthdate or age confirmation, 18+ eligibility status, safety pledge status, account settings, and support requests.
  • Profile data, including display name, bio, profile prompts, community interests, anime favorites, genres, comfort shows, watchlist, sub or dub preference, convention interests, photos, and verification status.
  • Member location data, including approximate city, metro area, rounded coordinates, and rounded distance buckets. ArcMates does not automatically show your device location or raw coordinates to other users.
  • In-person Hangout location data, including a host-entered or selected location name, exact street address, city, region, country, and, for Google-selected locations, a place identifier and coordinates used to verify the address and support local Hangout discovery.
  • Community activity, including messages, RSVPs, Hangout activity, event attendance settings, Crew activity, blocks, reports, moderation interactions, and limited historical account or safety records retained to protect members.
  • Fandom Rooms activity, including the title and channel you join, messages you post, read state, room moderation status, and spoiler-report choices. Searching the Fandom Rooms directory processes the title text you enter.
  • Safety-review data, including user-generated text and images described in the Safety, Reports, And Moderation section below, automated moderation results such as flagged safety categories and status, provider request identifiers, appeals, and human-review outcomes.
  • If you opt into Shared Arcs, your connection intent, availability, communication and spoiler preferences, Arc Finder visibility and Connect decisions, optional anime activity or Event goal, approximate travel area, optional dating age and gender preferences, structured Episode Zero answers, and private continuation choices.
  • Search text you submit for events, Hangouts, conversations, anime discovery, and the opt-in Arc Finder. Arc Finder search may match a public display name or public anime title, but results remain limited to currently eligible adults who chose to appear there. When you use location search for a Hangout, the address or venue search text and selected place identifier may be sent to Google Maps Platform so Google can return matching places and address details.
  • Device, usage, and analytics data, including app events, page views, campaign tags, referring domain, a temporary anonymous browser-session identifier, referral events, device type, browser or app version, crash signals, IP-derived region, and security logs.
  • ArcMates 1.2 does not offer paid features, subscriptions, in-app purchases, or advertising, and ArcMates does not collect payment-card information.

How We Use Information

  • To operate the waitlist, review ambassador applications, plan launch access and local event priorities, understand platform demand, and measure which channels bring high-quality signups.
  • To create and maintain accounts, enforce the 18+ eligibility requirement, personalize onboarding, and organize community recommendations around anime interests.
  • To recommend nearby Events, Hangouts, and local communities using interests, preferences, approximate location, and safety settings, to recommend online Hangouts without using location, and to help members form Crews with people from shared Events or Hangouts.
  • With fresh consent, to let eligible adults browse opted-in Arc Finder profiles, explain pair-specific Arc Sync from approved public fandom signals, check reciprocal private preferences only when Connect is sent, deliver a request only when that check succeeds, optionally add a shared Event, meetup, or anime activity, run Episode Zero where required, and unlock a conversation only after the required mutual choices.
  • To support messaging, Crews, Shared Arcs connections, RSVPs, Hangouts, event discovery, notifications, customer support, account deletion, and product analytics.
  • To let eligible adult members find a title, join one of its curated Fandom Room channels, read room history, participate in moderated app-wide discussions, and leave a channel when they choose.
  • To search for and verify Hangout locations, show the host-entered location and exact address according to the Hangout's visibility, and provide address-based directions.
  • To run automated safety checks powered by OpenAI on messages; profile text, prompts, photo alt text, and profile photos; Hangout listing text and cover images; and certain Crew or connection-request text before that content is published or delivered. This service classifies content for safety. It does not write member messages, power Arc Sync, choose which profiles appear in Arc Finder, or act as an AI companion.
  • To detect spam, scams, harassment, underage use, fake profiles, unsafe events, policy violations, abuse patterns, and security risks.
  • To comply with legal obligations, platform requirements, safety investigations, and valid requests from authorities when required.

What Other Users Can See

  • Other users may see public profile content you choose to share, such as display name, pronouns where provided, profile photos, bio, anime taste, profile prompts, verification badge status, event RSVPs you make public, and rounded distance or city-level location.
  • Other users cannot see your device location, raw coordinates, birthdate, email address, private safety reports, trust score, moderation notes, blocked-user list, or private account settings. If you intentionally enter an address for a Hangout, it is shared as described below.
  • Arc Finder lets adults browse profiles only from people who separately opt into directory discoverability. That opt-in controls appearance in Arc Finder; a profile may still be visible through an Event, Hangout, Crew, invitation, or authorized conversation context. The full profile shows only details and public fandom signals the member allowed.
  • Arc Sync is a pair-specific estimate based on approved public titles, genres, and optional Hero/Villain alignment overlap. It is not a public rating and does not use popularity, request or rejection history, photos, sensitive traits, paid boosts, verification, profile completion, freshness, or exact distance. Private dating, intent, approximate area, availability, communication, spoiler, and social preferences never control which profiles appear, the full profile, or Arc Sync.
  • Only when a member sends Connect does ArcMates check those reciprocal private preferences. An unavailable check creates no request and notifies nobody. Sending a Connect request does not open chat. The recipient may accept, decline privately, report, or block. A decline reason is not collected or shown and does not lower either person's score. Before both members complete Episode Zero, each person's answers remain hidden. Arc Finder connections and connections started from a shared activity unlock chat only after compatible private continuation choices. Chat for an Event or meetup connection may unlock after both adults accept the same eligible Event or Hangout context.
  • An in-person Hangout shows its exact host-entered address to people allowed to view it. A Public Hangout may make the address visible in public member discovery; Invite Only and Private Hangouts limit it to people authorized by those settings.
  • Messages are visible to the people in the conversation and may be reviewed by ArcMates when reported, flagged, or needed for safety and policy enforcement.
  • Fandom Rooms are app-wide discussions for signed-in eligible adult members, not private group chats. People in a room can see your approved posts and display name and can open the public profile available to them. Leaving a channel stops your membership but does not automatically erase messages you already posted.

Sharing And Service Providers

  • We do not sell your personal information. We do not allow public access to raw waitlist signup data.
  • Supabase provides account authentication, databases, private file storage, and backend functions. Supabase processes account identifiers, profile and community data, messages, uploaded files, app settings, and the operational and security records needed to provide those services.
  • OpenAI provides automated safety moderation. ArcMates sends OpenAI the user-generated text or image being checked, which may include messages; profile text, prompts, photo alt text, and profile photos; Hangout listing text and cover images; and certain Crew or connection-request text. OpenAI returns safety classifications and category scores that ArcMates uses as moderation signals.
  • Sentry provides crash and error monitoring. It may receive a pseudonymous ArcMates user identifier, app and device details, error diagnostics, and release information. ArcMates disables default personal-information collection and removes breadcrumb data, query parameters, extra context, and unsupported user fields before sending monitored events.
  • Expo and EAS provide mobile app delivery services and push notifications. Push delivery may involve a device push token, notification route, notification title and user-approved preview text, delivery status, and app or device platform information.
  • Resend provides waitlist and transactional account email. It may process the recipient email address, the email content needed to send the message, and delivery events such as delivered, delayed, bounced, complained, or suppressed.
  • Apple and Google provide optional sign-in and mobile platform services. When you choose one of these sign-in methods, the provider processes the sign-in request and ArcMates receives the account identifier and profile details, such as name or email, that you and the provider allow to be shared.
  • Hangout location lookup uses Google Maps Platform. Google may process the address or venue search text and selected place identifier needed to provide suggestions and place details, subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices.
  • AniList supplies anime catalog metadata and remote cover-image URLs. Loading a cover image may cause the image host or its content-delivery provider to receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address, device or browser details, requested image, and timestamp, subject to that provider's practices.
  • Vercel hosts the ArcMates website and may process request information needed to deliver and secure it, such as IP address, browser or device details, requested page, timestamps, and related server logs.
  • We may share limited information when needed to investigate abuse, prevent harm, comply with law, protect users, enforce policies, complete a business transfer, or respond to valid legal requests.
  • Public profile, event, Hangout, and message content may be visible to other users based on your settings and the context where you posted it.

Location Privacy

  • ArcMates is built around local discovery, but your device location is separate from an address you intentionally enter for a Hangout and is not exposed to other users.
  • We may use approximate device-location permission, if granted, to calculate a city or metro area and rounded distance buckets for nearby Event and Hangout recommendations and, only after separate Shared Arcs local-matching consent, local matching eligibility. We store and show only city-area member location data needed for local discovery; Hangout location lookup does not send your device coordinates to Google.
  • When a host enters or selects a location, ArcMates may store its exact address and, for a Google-selected result, location coordinates. The exact address is shown according to the Hangout's visibility. Hosts must have permission to list private addresses and should use Invite Only or Private visibility for sensitive locations.
  • You can deny device-location permission. Nearby Event and Hangout recommendations and separately consented local Shared Arcs matching may then be limited until you choose to grant it; this choice is separate from typing a location search for a Hangout.

Safety, Reports, And Moderation

  • Users can report, block, hide content, and contact support.
  • ArcMates uses automated OpenAI safety classifications as one part of content moderation. An automated check can approve content, keep it pending, or restrict, reject, or hide content that is flagged. If the check cannot finish or returns an invalid result, ArcMates keeps the affected content pending or undelivered instead of treating it as approved.
  • Automated safety categories are moderation signals, not judgments about a member's personality, compatibility, trustworthiness, Hero or Villain alignment, or dating suitability. They are not used to calculate Arc Sync or rank Arc Finder profiles.
  • Members can edit and resubmit content. For eligible text decisions, ArcMates also offers an in-app request for another review. For other moderation questions or appeals, contact support@arcmates.com. Content generally remains restricted while a review is pending, and an authorized human moderator may uphold or overturn an eligible decision.
  • Reports, blocks, moderation actions, enforcement history, safety logs, suspicious activity signals, and appeal records may be retained to protect users, prevent repeat abuse, and support investigations.
  • Reported content may be reviewed by authorized moderators and may result in warnings, restrictions, content removal, suspension, or account removal.

Your Choices

  • You can update profile content, community interests, privacy settings, event attendance visibility, notification settings, and recommendation preferences in the app where available.
  • You can leave Arc Finder, change profile visibility, disable matching around a shared activity, Event, or meetup, withdraw dating or approximate-area consent, cancel or end a Connect request, end a Shared Arcs connection, leave a Fandom Room channel, block users, report users or content, leave Events or Hangouts, and request account deletion. Leaving Arc Finder removes you from new profile results. Withdrawing a required permission can immediately close or hide an active request or introduction.
  • You can request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy support by emailing support@arcmates.com. Some data may be retained where required for safety, security, legal compliance, or abuse prevention.

Account Deletion And Retention

  • You can start account deletion in the app, or use the web instructions at arcmates.com/account-deletion if you cannot access the app.
  • When deletion is requested, ArcMates hides the member's public profile and begins deletion processing. Some records may remain for a limited time in backups, security logs, fraud prevention records, safety investigations, legal records, or moderation history.
  • Ending a Shared Arcs connection or withdrawing a permission does not by itself immediately erase an existing Connect request, Episode Zero session, structured answer, or continuation record. Limited request, decline, expiry, and pair-cooldown records may be retained for safety and abuse prevention without being used in Arc Sync. Account and data-deletion requests remove eligible account-linked Shared Arcs data; records required for safety, security, deletion processing, or law may be retained.
  • Anonymous acquisition session identifiers are kept temporarily in browser session storage. Limited landing-event records and aggregated campaign results may be retained to measure channel performance and prevent reporting abuse.
  • Waitlist users can request removal from the waitlist by emailing support@arcmates.com from the email used to sign up.

Children And Age Requirement

  • ArcMates is for people age 18 and older. Minors may not create accounts or use the service. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact support@arcmates.com so we can review and take action.

Security

  • We use technical, organizational, and access-control safeguards designed to protect user data, including authentication controls, row-level database security, private storage rules, and restricted admin access.
  • No online service can guarantee perfect security. Please use a strong login method and contact support if you believe your account or data has been compromised.

International Users

  • ArcMates is operated from the United States. If you use ArcMates from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other places where our service providers operate.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. Contact support@arcmates.com to make a request.

Changes To This Policy

  • We may update this policy as ArcMates evolves and its features or availability change.
  • When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice where required.

Google Maps Platform
